St Mary & St Giles' Rosary Group

The Rosary is an ancient form of meditative prayer used by the Church to reflect on events and aspects of
Our Lord's life, ministry and triumph over death, as told by Scripture, which helps us to pray, repent and go
to confession, read Scripture and turn to Christ. These are grouped into four sets of 'mysteries':

Joyful Mysteries
Glorious Mysteries
The Annunciation
The Visitation
The Nativity
The Presentation
The Finding in the Temple
The Resurrection
The Ascension
The Descent of the Holy Spirit
The Assumption of Our Lady
The Coronation of Our Lady
Sorrowful Mysteries
Luminous Mysteries
The Agony in the Garden
The Scourging
The Crowning with Thorns
The Carrying of the Cross
The Crucifixion
The Baptism of the Lord in the Jordan
The first miracle of Our Lord at the wedding at Cana
The proclamation of the Kingdom in Our Lord's teaching
The Transfiguration
The Institution of the Eucharist
As each mystery is prayed, with the reading of Scripture punctuated by the saying of the 'Hail Mary', God's
love for us in His sending down of His Son to earth and the rôle of Our Lady in our salvation take on greater
and deeper meaning for us.  In the Rosary we are made aware that Our Lord Jesus Christ and Mary His
mother are with us always.
